Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who teaches this course?

The course is taught by Dr. Lisa Meltzer, a board-certified and licensed pediatric sleep psychologist with 23 years of experience treating sleep problems across development, from infants through college-aged students.

  • Can I preview the course?

Yes! We have a preview page that has a brief video from each chapter.

  • Who is the course for?

This course was designed for licensed clinical providers, in particular primary care and mental health providers. This includes pediatricians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, licensed professional counselors, and other licensed allied health professionals.

  • What type of training or experience do I need to complete this course?

The material in this course assumes that you have training in at least one of the following fields: medicine, mental health, and/or child development.

  • Why should I take this course?

If you are a pediatric clinical provider, you know that many of your patients have sleep problems. But you likely received very little training on how to manage pediatric sleep problems. This course will give you the skills you need to screen for and treat the most common sleep problems in pediatrics.

  • Does this course review medications I can prescribe for insomnia?

No. There are no FDA approved medications for pediatric insomnia. In addition, we know that behavioral interventions are more effective and enduring than medications. Thus, the treatments for insomnia provided in this course use primarily behavioral, with a few cognitive, approaches.

  • I have more questions, what should I do?

Please email Dr. Meltzer at [email protected] with any questions you may have about the course. She will do her best to respond within 1-2 business days.
